Terms of Use
Last updated October 6, 2026
The website located at muzzmi.com, together with the Muzzmi mobile app (the "Site"), is owned and operated by Dean Chohan, an individual based in Las Vegas, Nevada, who runs it under the name Muzzmi ("Company," "us," "our," or "we"). Certain features of the Site may be subject to additional guidelines or rules posted on the Site, which are incorporated by reference into these Terms.
These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your use of the Site. By accessing or using the Site, or by clicking "I agree" (or a similar button or checkbox) when that option is presented to you, you agree to these Terms on behalf of yourself or the entity you represent, and you confirm that you have the authority to do so. You must be at least 13 years old to use the Site, and at least 18 to buy Muzzmi for Business. If you are under 18, you may use the Site only with the permission of a parent or guardian. If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the Site.
Part 1: How Muzzmi works
A. What Muzzmi is
Muzzmi is a map of halal food places, masjids and community events, with a marketplace of services, an ingredient scanner and prayer times. Using it is free. Businesses can pay to run their own listing (Section G).
B. Halal status is information, not a guarantee
Halal and zabiha labels on Muzzmi come from third-party certifier rosters, from OpenStreetMap, from what a business says on its own website, from listing owners and from users. "Certified" means a certifier's public roster listed the outlet the last time we checked. "Checked by Muzzmi" means we read what the business itself publishes. We do not inspect kitchens or slaughterhouses and we do not guarantee that any food is halal. The decision to eat somewhere is yours.
C. Scanner and prayer times are tools, not rulings
The ingredient scanner screens ingredient lists that volunteers upload to Open Food Facts against a set of rules. It can miss ingredients, work from an outdated list, or misread a source-dependent ingredient. "Halal labeled" repeats a label recorded in that database; it is not our certification. Prayer times and the Qibla direction are calculations for the location and method you choose and can differ from your local masjid's timetable. None of this is religious advice. Verify with the packaging, the manufacturer, a certifier, or a scholar you trust.
D. What you post
You keep ownership of what you submit (places, listings, events, reviews, photos and reports) and give us a worldwide, royalty-free license to show and distribute it inside Muzzmi. Do not post anything false, unlawful, hateful, or that you do not have the right to post. We may remove content or accounts that break these rules.
There is no tolerance for objectionable content or abusive users: harassment, hate, threats, sexual content, scams and impersonation are removed and the account behind them can be banned. Every review, event, listing and person on Muzzmi has a Report option, and you can block anyone so their reviews and events stop showing for you. We aim to review reports within 24 hours and remove content that breaks these rules. Three separate reports can hide an item right away while we look.
E. Acceptable use
No scraping, no automated access, no attempts to break or overload the service, no false reports, no claiming a listing you do not run. Organizers are responsible for the events they post, and owners for what they put on their listing.
F. Third-party data
Map data is from OpenStreetMap contributors under the Open Database License. Certifier data belongs to the respective certifiers and links to their listings. Product data is from Open Food Facts under the Open Database License (ODbL) and the Database Contents License; product images are under their own licenses as noted on Open Food Facts. Prayer times use the adhan library (MIT). Google ratings and reviews shown on a listing are Google data, displayed with attribution and refreshed at most every 30 days; the Google Maps and Yelp links open those services under their own terms.
G. Muzzmi for Business
Muzzmi for Business is a subscription of 3.99 US dollars a month or 39 US dollars a year that lets a verified owner or manager run a listing (hours, photos, order links, events and flyers) and puts the listing in the Featured rotation. Masjids are not charged: a verified masjid gets the same tools free. It is sold through Stripe, which handles card details; we never see your card number. You are charged only after your claim is approved. The subscription renews at the end of each period until you cancel; cancel any time from Manage billing on the owner page (the Stripe customer portal), and the listing stays active until the end of the period you paid for.
Refunds: you may request a full refund within 7 days of your first charge by email to hello@muzzmi.com or through Manage billing. After that, charges are not refunded and unused time is not prorated. Paying never changes a listing's halal status, which comes only from certifier rosters, what the business publishes and our own checks. We may end a subscription and refund the unused period if a listing breaks these terms, and we may give the plan free to masjids and nonprofits at our discretion. Running your own listing is a permitted use under Section 2.1.

Please do not submit any feedback that you consider proprietary or confidential.
3. Privacy
Your use of the Site is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which is available at muzzmi.com/privacy and is incorporated into these Terms by reference. 3.1 Processing of Personal Data. By using the Site, you acknowledge that you have read and understand our Privacy Policy and that Company will process your personal data and other information in accordance with the Privacy Policy. If there is a conflict between these Terms and the Privacy Policy with respect to the collection, use, or processing of your personal data, the Privacy Policy will control.

We may assume control of the defense of any such claim at your expense, and you agree to cooperate with our defense. You agree not to settle any such claim without our prior written consent. We will make reasonable efforts to notify you promptly of any claim we become aware of.

5.3 Release. To the fullest extent permitted by law, you release Company and its officers, employees, agents, successors, and assigns from all claims, demands, and damages of any kind arising out of or related to the Site, other users, or Third-Party Services. If you are a California resident, you waive California Civil Code Section 1542, which provides: "A general release does not extend to claims which the creditor or releasing party does not know or suspect to exist in his or her favor at the time of executing the release, which if known by him or her must have materially affected his or her settlement with the debtor or released party."
6. Disclaimers
THE SITE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE." TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, COMPANY AND ITS SUPPLIERS DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. 7. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW: (A) COMPANY AND ITS SUPPLIERS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY LOST PROFITS, LOST DATA, COSTS OF SUBSTITUTE PRODUCTS, OR ANY INDIRECT, CONSEQUENTIAL, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO THESE TERMS OR YOUR USE OF (OR INABILITY TO USE) THE SITE; AND (B) OUR TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING UNDER THESE TERMS IS CAPPED AT THE GREATER OF (i) $50 USD AND (ii) THE AMOUNT PAID TO COMPANY BY YOU UNDER THESE TERMS IN THE SIX MONTHS PRIOR TO THE INCIDENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM. THE EXISTENCE OF MULTIPLE CLAIMS DOES NOT INCREASE THIS CAP.
8. Term and Termination
These Terms remain in effect while you use the Site. We may suspend or terminate your access (including suspending access to or deleting your account) at any time and for any reason, including if we believe you have violated these Terms. We are not liable to you for any such termination. Upon termination, Sections A through G, Sections 2.2 through 2.6 and Sections 3 through 10 will survive.
9. State-Specific Legal Notices
