Key dates for Ramadan 2027
First taraweeh: Sunday evening, February 7, 2027. First fast: Monday, February 8, 2027. Last ten nights begin: the evening of Saturday, February 27, 2027. The 27th night, the most sought for Laylat al-Qadr: the evening of Friday, March 5, 2027. Eid al-Fitr: Tuesday, March 9, 2027. All dates follow the Fiqh Council of North America's calendar; a moon-sighted start one day later shifts every date by a day.
Calculation vs moon sighting
The Fiqh Council of North America follows an astronomical calculation announced in advance, which is why the 2027 dates are already known. Many masjids and countries wait for an actual sighting of the crescent on the 29th of Sha'ban; when the crescent is not seen, Sha'ban completes 30 days and Ramadan starts a day later. Moonsighting.com publishes visibility maps for 1448 showing where the crescent can be seen on each evening. Your masjid will announce which method it follows, and many post their Ramadan schedules as events on Muzzmi.
Suhoor and iftar times in your city
Suhoor ends at Fajr and iftar is at Maghrib, so the prayer times are the fasting times. Muzzmi's prayer times page calculates both for your exact location, with a month table so you can plan the whole of Ramadan, and the prayer times by city pages cover hundreds of cities in the US, UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa. In most US and UK cities the fast runs from roughly 5:30 am to 5:30 pm in early February and grows longer every day.
