Is Shake Shack halal?
In the UK, the meat is halal: Shake Shack UK says its beef and chicken are halal certified, though its kitchens also serve pork bacon. In the US, Shake Shack says it does not use halal meat.
Chain statements checked October 2026. This is what the chain or a cited source says, not a ruling by Muzzmi. How to check a restaurant.
What Shake Shack says, by country
- United States Not halal
Shake Shack's US FAQ says its US locations do not use halal meat in their menu items.
- Canada No public halal statement
We found no halal statement from Shake Shack in Canada, on its own site or from a certifier. Treat it as not halal unless the location shows a current halal certificate.
- United Kingdom Halal meat, not a halal kitchen
Shake Shack UK says its beef patties and chicken are halal certified at all UK locations, but it is not a fully halal certified restaurant because pork bacon is served in the same kitchens.

Questions
Is Shake Shack zabiha?
Muzzmi has not found any Shake Shack on the roster of a zabiha certifier (HMS, HFSAA, HMA or HMC). Even where the chain says its chicken is halal, that does not say whether it was hand slaughtered. Halal vs zabiha.
A Shake Shack near me says it is halal. Can I trust it?
Ask to see the certificate. Check that it is current, that it names the restaurant and not only the meat supplier, and that the certifier lists the store on its own website. A 2024 CBC Marketplace investigation found fast food staff showing supplier certificates and expired ones. How to tell if a restaurant is halal.
How does Muzzmi decide a status?
Certified zabiha means a certifier with a public roster (HMS, HFSAA, HMA or HMC) lists that exact outlet, and the rosters are re-read every week. Everything else is labelled for what it is: a claim, partially halal, or unverified. More on how places are checked.
